I can't recommend this enough!! Wow!! The cottage is fabulous, very well equipped with stunning views. It is spotless and the owners have thought of every comfort. The location is remote, with great walks and amazing scenery. The owner is friendly helpful and very knowledgeable about the area. If you love tranquillity and peace then you must go.

We loved our stay at Bright Water Cottage. Only three of us so we each had a spacious bedroom. Everything in this cottage looks brand new, and works well, and in the kitchen there is every item you could wish for? The colour-schemes and furnishings are fresh and restful; I especially liked the crisp blue and white bedspreads. Richard and Suzanne were friendly and welcoming, and since they live next door, there is no problem in contacting them if you need anything. The view from the dining area over the Murray Firth is wonderful. We were lucky with the weather, but if it turned bad there are plenty of good books and games, and the cottage would be warm and cost. We were told there were otters and dolphins in the area, but didn't see them. We did meet Harold the seagull, and saw a seal. I can't recommend this Cottage highly enough.

Well equipped cottage right by the shore

The cottage is spacious and very clean. There was a welcome bottle of wine, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. We didn't need a lot of the things we had brought - things like tinfoil, bin liners etc were all provided and every sink had hand soap and there was even shower gel. There's a seaside theme to the bedding and furnishings. There was a spacious garden for kids and a fenced off area for a dog. There are different areas to sit outside in the front and back gardens and also just at the back door. The wifi was great. Richard was very helpful. I would recommend the railway station in Tain for food and coffees - it has been turned into a bright and airy bistro.

We stayed for a week at this tranquil getaway in Rockfield and already we feel like we want to move here. The house is spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. The kitchen would make even a professional chef nod with approval. As nice and perfect as the house is, it is outshadowed by the scenery because the views are simply stunning. From your dining table you can frequently watch dolphins and seals swim by. From the little village you can take short walks along or even longer hikes along the coast and neighbouring countryside. This is also a perfect spot for exploring the northern Highlands as it is located close to A9. Finally, Richard is a superb and accommodating host, ready to make you feel welcome at every turn. We can warmly welcome this cottage and will certainly return!

Fishermans cottage RockfieldBright Water Cottage, 17 Rockfield Village, Nr Portmahomack, Scotland, IV20 1RF, United Kingdom Date of Stay 6 May 2017 Fishermans cottage is a beautifully renovated traditional cottage with ever changing views over the Moray Firth. We were blessed with great weather for our stay so enjoyed evenings sat in the dining room watching dolphins and seals just off the shore. Our Jack Russell, Alfie was welcomed and enjoyed the freedom of roaming the shoreline paths and beaches which stretch for miles in either direction. The owners, Richard and Suzanne, live next door to the cottage and are on hand to assist and give the benefit of their local knowledge when required. The property is exceptionally clean and well appointed, both the kitchen and bathroom are are well fitted out with modern high quality appliances. Portmahomack is a small traditional old fishing village about a mile and a half away, it has a beautiful harbour and sandy beach, but facilities are limited. If , like us you enjoy a degree of quiet remoteness with walking, bird watching, beach combing etc this is the place. True, there are limited drinking and dining opportunities locally, but knowing that from the outset allowed us to stockpile at the supermarkets in Tain about 10 miles away. All in all we had a great time and never turned the TV on once.

whilst being within a small fishing village the very comfortable house was both private and within easy access to other places of interest and good food and shops close by.Our hosts Suzanne and Richard who live next door were both helpful and talented -sourcing and cooking delicious local lobster and even washing the car for us.Our American visitors loved it and have asked for the booking details. And oh did I mention the frolicking dolphins swimming past the garden as we had coffee and the many other happy and content sea birds. The weather was fabulous the walk past the castle awesome-who needs to go anywhere other than bonnie Scotland?!
